Meat “kibble” with broccoli and red potato

DIY delectable meat "kibble" paired with nutritious broccoli and red potato for your beloved furry companion. This tantalizing dog recipe may pose a bit of a challenge, so venture into it only if you have ample time and patience—emphasis on patience! It's not for the faint-hearted, given the meticulous process involved. However, the end result is worth it, especially for my two cherished girl puppies who savor every bite. I reserve this special treat for occasions or when I have an abundance of free time.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of white flour
  • 750-800 g of ground pork ham (ask the butcher to grind a piece for you)
  • 500 g of broccoli
  • 350 g of red potato
  • 300 g of rice

Steps

  1. Thoroughly wash the broccoli and potato. Cut the broccoli into florets, and peel the potato before cutting it into large pieces.
  2. Place the potato in a pot and add enough water (you’ll need it later for the broccoli and rice). Boil the water and cook the potato for 20 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, mix the egg and flour with the ground pork until a uniform mixture is achieved.
  4. The most time-consuming part is shaping the meat “kibble”:
    • Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking tray.
    • Tear small pieces of meat, forming small balls with a circular motion of your palms, slightly flattening the sides before placing them on the tray. This process takes a considerable amount of time, and you’ll likely fill at least three pans with the mixture.
    • Bake the “kibble” in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius with a fan for 15 minutes.
  5. Once the potato is cooked, remove it from the broth and add broccoli florets for a brief 3-4 minutes.
  6. Drain the broccoli in a colander and cool them under cold water or with 2-3 ice cubes to maintain their vibrant green color.
  7. Cook the rice in the vegetable broth for 15 minutes.
  8. Cut the cooked potato into small cubes and the broccoli florets into even smaller pieces.
  9. Drain the water from the rice and, in a large pot, layer the rice, broccoli, and potato, mixing the ingredients thoroughly.
  10. Finally, add the baked meat “kibble” and ensure all ingredients are well-mixed.

Notes and Warnings:

  • Avoid serving hot food to pets.
  • The food is suitable for your pet when you can safely put your finger in it without risk of burning.
  • Store in the refrigerator.

Bon Appétit, dear furry friends!
