Eggshell Calcium for Dogs – Natural and Healthy Supplement

Here it is! A simple recipe that will help you provide enough calcium for your dog when you don’t use bones in their meals. 🐾 Calcium is essential for the health of your dog’s bones, teeth, and muscles. In this guide, I’ll show you how to make your own calcium from eggshells – a pure, natural, and effective supplement. This way, you have full control over what you add to your dog’s food and can be confident you’re giving them the best.
Ingredients
- Eggshells – as many as you have (save them after using the eggs for cooking or baking)
Steps
- Preparing the shells:
- Wash raw eggs very thoroughly with hot water, soap, and a sponge.
- After using the eggs, don’t throw away the shells.
- Separate the shells and wash them again to remove any leftover egg white.
- Let them dry completely.
- Baking:
- Arrange the dry shells on a baking tray.
- Bake in an oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10–15 minutes.
- When they turn slightly brown, they’re ready.
- Grinding:
- Allow the shells to cool.
- Grind them in a food processor or coffee grinder into a very fine white powder – this is extremely important for your dog’s health.
- Store the powder in a glass jar for best results.
Notes and Warnings:
- Dosage is critical – never overdose!
- General guideline: approximately 1 teaspoon per 10 kg (22 lbs) of dog weight per day.
- The safest method is to add 2 level teaspoons (not heaped) to the entire batch of food in the pot, mixing well to distribute evenly. This allows you to portion out meals in the following days without risk of overdose.
If your dog is already receiving calcium from other sources (cheese, yogurt), adjust the dose accordingly.
Enjoy your meal, furry friends! 🐾
